We have broken many of these given that we installed them as they come. The issue was that somehow you have to make a dugout into the wood for the deadbolt element of the lock to slide into. And I don't have that tool, possibly drilling a number of holes in a row and then utilizing a knife to cut out the leftover wood? I do not know, but be aware, with no generating this dugout the strain place on the lock but locking it into a solid piece of wood will damage the lock over time.
